A. What are cookies?
Cookies are short fragments of text (letters and numbers) that allow the web server to store on the client (the browser) information to be reused during the same visit to the site (session cookies) or later, even after days have passed (persistent cookies). Cookies are stored, according to the preferences of the User, by the individual browser on the specific device used (computer, tablet, smartphone).
Cookies are useful because they allow a website to recognise your device. They have different purposes such as, for example, allow you to navigate efficiently between pages, remember your favourite sites and, in general, improve the browsing experience. They also help to ensure that advertising content displayed online is more targeted at the User and his/her interests. Depending on the function and purpose of use, cookies may classify into technical cookies, profiling cookies, third-party cookies. This Site makes use of technical cookies and third-party cookies.
1. Technical cookies.
Technical cookies are those used solely for “carrying out the transmission of a communication over an electronic communications network or to the extent strictly necessary to the provider of an information society service explicitly requested by the subscriber or User to provide that service” (see article 122, paragraph 1, of the Code). They are not used for any further purpose and are normally installed directly by the owner or operator of the website. They can be divided into navigation or session cookies, which guarantee normal navigation and use of the website; analytics cookies, similar to technical cookies when used directly by the site operator to collect information, in aggregate form, on the number of users and how they visit the site itself; functionality cookies, which allow the user to navigate according to a series of criteria selected in order to improve the service provided to the same.
The installation of such cookies does not require the prior consent of users.
These cookies may be disabled and deleted through your browser settings. All modern browsers allow you to change your cookie settings. Usually, you can find these settings in the “options” or the “preferences” menu of the User’s browser. The following links may be helpful to the understanding of these settings. Or you can use the “Help” option in your browser for more information.

2. Third Party Cookies
While browsing, the User may also receive cookies from different websites or web servers on his/her terminal (so-called “third party” cookies): this is because the Site may contain elements such as, for example, images, maps, sounds, specific links to web pages of other domains that reside on servers other than the one on which the page requested is located. In other words, these cookies are set directly by operators of websites or servers other than the Site itself. These third parties may in theory set cookies when you visit the Site and thus obtain information relating to the fact that you have visited a VELA website.
Targeting cookies: Targeting cookies may be linked to services provided by third parties such as the “like” button on social media or targeted advertising campaigns developed by third parties who provide services and in return report that the User has visited the corporate website or for remarketing actions.
Ve.La. S.p.A. uses targeting cookies to link social networks, which could consequently use the information relating to the User’s visit to convey to him advertising messages placed on other sites.
The advertising networks that the company uses may use the data that is provided to the User regarding his visit and his preferences during the navigation to present advertising that may be of interest to him.
Below, for each third party cookie on the Site, we report the name, purpose, name of the third party that retains the information and its link to the third party website.
