Reading of the XXI canto of Dante’s Inferno, in which the Malebolge are compared to the Arsenale (“… As in the Arsenal of the Venetians boils in the winter the tenacious pitch…”), by the actor Beppe Arena. The Canto will be introduced by Serena Fornasiero, from Università Ca’ Foscari di Venezia University of Venice.

Beppe Arena, director of prose and opera, has directed some of the most prestigious Italian theatres and festivals as well as some of the most prominent theatrical actors including Mario Scaccia, Pamela Villoresi, Maddalena Crippa, Alessandro Haber, Mariano Rigillo, Debora Caprioglio, Corrado Tedeschi. He has directed operas (classical and contemporary) and taught in musical conservatories and theatre schools and has also organized events in the cultural field. In the film industry he has worked in several films as an actor and as a casting manager. In 2012 he directed his first feature film inspired by the life of Tina Modotti “Why fire does not die” written by Francesco Niccolini. He teaches public speaking, communication and storytelling and organizes Team Building meetings for companies.
