Launched the second edition of the international call for the selection of studies and projects for boats – sustainable sailing

The Venice Boat Show,  which this year will be held from 29 May to 6 June 2021 with a main focus in the Venice Arsenale and elsewhere dotted throughout the town, sees the involvement of local, national and international players.
The project plans to reserve spaces within the Arsenale to be dedicated to professional designers or students, single or associated figures who can present studies and project of boats of any kind and material. The objective is to allow the subjects selected by a committee of experts appointed by the Mayor of Venice, to display the product of their creativity in dedicated areas within the Boat Show.

The Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia, jointly with the City of Venice and Vela spa, will promote the initiative in collaboration with the main institutions and public bodies of the city. Professionals and students, single or associated individuals or companies that have created and/or simply designed projects and studies for boats of any kind and material may apply.
The 2021 edition will be aimed at two types of yacht projects and nautical transport characterised by high sustainability: sailing and motor yachts belonging to classes up to 24 metres; means of transport for people and/or boats for inland waterways. Studies and projects both fulfilled or unrealised in the last five years may be presented, including those already presented on the occasion of design competitions, or published in specialised and general periodicals; ownership of these projects must be declared during the application phase. The projects may relate to the overall design for a vessel and/or interiors and/or detailed components, propulsion system, the structure, etc. The exhibition space for each subject within the Venice Arsenale will have a modular size and shape to be defined. In this space, the exhibitors will be able to display graphic materials, erect video monitors and show models in line with the technical indications that will be communicated to the exhibitors selected, with coordination and supervision being supplied by the Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia.
The exhibition will be held from 29 May to 6 June 2021 and may be extended for a longer period. Participation is free and can take place individually or in groups. To enter the competition, candidates must register by completing the online registration form in all the parts indicated as being required, attaching the requested documentation by 15/03/2021. After the deadline for registration, the proposals presented will be selected by the Scientific Committee and the winners of the selected projects will be contacted by 01/04/2021. The selected candidates will then have to confirm their participation within 7 days of being informed of their being selected.
Participants who have applied for the 2020 Call will be contacted by email and may confirm their adhesion to the 2021 with the projects already submitted by replying to the Promoters’ email within the deadline. Both updated projects as well as brand new projects require a new application.
